Maeari HEF 11
A for me totally unknown brandname, Maeari, some research lerns me that the Maeari name was and still is
used by Hyundai for their piano’s, so somewhere in a distant past they also made guitars branded Maeari.
I guess that this guitar is made in the 70’s, in that era the korean company slowly went on the global market.
It’s a shortscale 1 pickup plywood guitar, wich i put at first glance in the teisco/kawai bowl, but this one is
made even cheaper, the pickup resembles the goldfoil pickups but they didn’t used goldfoil, the foil lost it’s
gold colour over the years the gold is still slightly visuable at a few spots, and gold never loses it’s colour.
The bridge is a folded piece of chromed plate with  slots for the strings, i’ve seen this before and it’s not
good for the sustain.
The fretboard is stained dark to make it resemble a good quality of rosewood,  on the upper frets the lighter
wood is starting to show at a few spots.
The black binding is a nice touch, the frets are in excellent condition and nicely finished i also like the quirky
shaped scratchplate, and he’s good playable the most important factor on a guitar IMHO.
A nice thingy to fool around with or for decoration purposes.
