Again a hybride, these guitars were made in japan, and mostly the asama or The Asama didn’t had a good
reputation, this is also a lowbudget guitar made of plywood but with a bonus, a onboard effect unit .
Less choice than on my Kay value leader but very usuable, looking at the phase switch the first thing that
comes in your mind is in and out phase switching of the pickups, but not on this one, there is a phaser hiding
there, adjustable by the speed and level pot.
The onboard distortion is not bad at all but it’s a 70’s sound, the boost function is very usuable gives a nice
powerboost to the signal., the treble/normal switch you better don’t touch, switching to treble in wich position
all basstones are cut off gives a very thin and nasal sound.
You can switch the whole unit on and off with the bypass switch and there is a led indicator built in that
indicates the on/off status off the effect unti and by how bright it burns you can get a indication of the
condition if the battery.

It’s simply a cheapo japnese guitar with something extra onboard, plays good, good feeling neck and most
likely the pickups are fake humbuckers, i still have to investigate this.
I’m for 90% sure that these guitars were made at the Maya factory in Kobe, since i’ve only seen these
aluminium inlays on mayas.
There is soem playwear on this guitar but that’s minimal, one of the knobs is missing a part but that’s all.
With it’s pre-lawsuit headstock (this is only a price
raising term imho) it’s a nice addition to my collection,
bought it cheap on a vintage guitarshow, complete
with case.
bargains are still possible even when the dealers are
