Again a piece of japanese quality, a Westone thunder of the first serie’s buid by matsumoku and of the
expected good quality.
These guitars have the at that time popular necktrough look, but they are bolt on a excellent guitar with
very nice pickups, sharp and full bite at the bridge and warm and well defined on the neck pickup and
offcourse this uncle matt guitar also has the wellknown matsumoku feature, a coilsplitswitch, making it even
more versatile.
This simply is a very nice 80’s guitar and almost the best you could get in
that pricerange.
Bought it on a fleamarket and had to haggle quite a lot, because the askingprice was on the level of what
you pay for one in perfect condition.
And this one needed some tlc, backplate and output were missing, everything was loose whats possible on
a guitar, one of the brassknobs is missing and you could grow vegetables on the fretboard, but it’s now
mine and i’m happy with it.
Mounted a few gold plated teleknobs on it, these suit him well, but wil be replaced when i manage to get a
original knob, cut a backplate out of a old VHS box, mounted a output and thightened everything, and damn
all works without any unwanted sounds.
For me this shows the good quality of the used parts, plays very good, fretwire is perfect, so all you want in
a guitar.
The bodyshape is unusual but very ergonomic .
