Version 2.2
Columbus hummingbird
Columbus, a typical importer brand, this name was mostly used for the brittish market, can be build anywhere,
the first columbus guitars were made in Japan and early 70’s the production moved to Korea .
There is no label inside anymore so to pinpoint the country of origin is difficult, when i got this the bridge was
ripped clean of and gluid on it with PU glue, that stuff is NOT for guitarbuilding!!
The PU glue didn’t hold on good enough so now i had remove that shit, did this by using a small torch, with
which i slghtly damaged the paintjob, that’s why there is a brown spot near the bridge.
Also in the center of the bridge i drilled a small hole and mounted a small bolt and nut there, to prevent the
bridge coming up again, and i finished the hole of with a piece of inlay.
Tuners were missing and so did the oversized tunerrings, so i had to improvise here, i wasn’t planning to
spend money on it because a acoustic guitar i always sell on.
The trussrid cover plate is also not original, i kept that one from a previous wrecked guitar and covers the
original screwholes nicely.
A beautiful guitar, nice inlays and even a little bit more luxurious than an original gibson hummingbird
regarding the looks,( inlays on bridge) is now also a nice player, the bridge saddle was also missing but i
never trow anything away so it’s now a nice playable guitar again.
Sound wise not that great but also not bad at all, a nice cheapo western with great looks.
