A typical case of being too greedy on a fleamarket, when i inspected it better lateron i discovered that the
fretboard was extremely dry, so dry it had cracked in several places.
The only way to repair it is with artificial wood, and the top 3 frets were also completely gone, so i needed to
replace these, i always strip a guitar when i wreck it completely for parts, yes even the fretwire, so i had some
fitting wires laying around.
These were slightly thicker than te original but becuase they were te top 3 ,it wont influence the playing.
Restrung it, and i’m proud about my work because it plays realy excellent, onle the sound is not that great,
but that’s a common issue with these old EKO’s.
Due to the heelblock needed to mount the bolt on neck he’s quite heavy for a western guitar, and also feels
very solid, built like a tank these EKO’s.
Offcourse it’s a fully laminated guitar with a adjustable bridge, the original tuners work way better than i
expected.
