This is an 60’s ASTRO when i got it was in terrible condition, broken tuners, one pu missing the other one broken.

So i took some drastic measures, i sawed two holes in the body to fit the humbuckers and replaced the tuners.

Now it’s one of my favorites, the laminated neck on this one is amazing, and it has a bigsby style trem which i always like.

Knowing then what i know now i would never had started  mounting humbuckers in it and would have been on the hunt for an original pu’s.

That said a few months after i aquired this guitar i ran into a few original pu’s on a vintageguitar show for a very low price.

I regretted the fact that i modified this guitar that way immediatly.

But shit happen and i was just starting to collect guitars at that time.

It’ s a german made Astro and not a USA one, the USA astro brand were mainly low quality cheapo’s, not like this one, this is a high quality guitar, with its solid back and top, has even solid sides and a laminated neck.

This builder was quite well known at the time due to it’s acoustic jazzboxes.
