This is my biggest restauration project until now, when i bought it it was painted
pink with spots all over.
And i’m serious about all over, neck, tuners, everything the seller allready cleaned
the pickups but on a way he better shouldn’t, sanded the paint of thereby removing
the gold totally.
When i started stripping, more colours apeared, purple, green, blue, gold orange
and finally the original colour ,gold.
A pleasant surprise was that the guitar is equiped with a pair of Maxon pickups.
These pickups were often used by Ibanez, and sound very good and are worth a
good deal more than i paid for the whole guitar.
This are the brands i discovered when i disassembled the guitar at first glance i
thought Yamaki, but there is no made in japan on the quirky neckplate but this is
stamped into the tailpiece, like you will find on all made in japan tailpieces .
After a week hard work this is the result.

I’m happy with the result, offcourse it could be smoother, but it’s always very difficult to get wood perfectly
smooth with manual tools.
So he’s not perfect but what do you expect from an old guitar from the 70’s, at least the bodyis not made of
plywood.
When removing the paint there surfaced a nice triple binding around the headstock and a double binding
around the neck.
I was lucky with the new tom bridge, thepins had the same thread as the original studs so didn’t needed to
get the old studs out, that saved a me a lot of work.
He sounds devine, plays increadable smooth and looks great,
what more can you want in a guitar.
The typical shaped neckplate made lord bizarre suspect it’s a
zen-on but nothing is sure for now.
I had to refinish this guitar complete because the original finish
was way to far damaged.
I needed to replace on this guitar, bridge, tailpiece, knobs and
the toggle switch, but managed to save the rest, cleaningup the
scratchplate was a nasty and difficult job.
