A duo this time, 2 typical postal order guitars a DreaMotion
, a little bit older stratmodel and a Phoenix, still available
in the kijkshop in the Netherlands (149 E with amp).
Though both guitars look identical except the headstock ,
the is a world between them.
Both good players, after some tinkering, and now nice
starter guitars again.
So here a comparison of both.
The Phoenix:
Very light.
Flat neckprofile.
1 ply scratchplate.
Neck whitout skunkstripe and a dark stained fretboard to
resemble rosewood.
Plays okay, pickups are not that great but at least it’s not
plywood.
But overal feels like a toy, mostly due to it’s low weight.
The Dreamotion:
A lot heavier.
Round neckprofile.
3 ply scratchplate.
Neck with skunkstripe and rosewood fretboard, and with a
correct headstock, and has solid tuners compared to the
Phoenix.
A far better copy, and the aged pickups give it some class too.
Good player, reasonable pickups, and no plywood, the overal feel is that of a good solid guitar, my pick would
be the Dreamotion if i had to choose, a superior guitar compared to the Chinese Phoenix toy.
