Gorgious El Maya EM-1100 a middle class

guitar of there top serie’s, Maya is well

known due to their cheap plywood copy’s,

but they also made original models like this

one.

This is truly a first class guitar build  regarding strict quality control, with it’s 3 cutaway body shape and germazied carved top it’s really a showpiece.

Completely mahogany, neck and body, dtringtrough, bone nut, schaler tuners and set neck.

A light player that chimes unplugged like a bell and plugged gives a deep warm growl.

My feet couldn’t carry me that fast when i got the message come and get it, you don’t see them often and when there is one on the market the prices are way up.

This one was 100 euro with hcc, what i regard as a super bargain, has some minor damages and a bit of bucklerash but that’s all.

Build in Kobe, Japan end 70’s early 80’s, they never become popular, and before they could make their mark on the guitar market the brand has already disapeared, that’s a shame because with these guitars they had a great potential.

The bridge has a matsumoku look over it but the matsumoku experts deny that uncle mat ever builded el mayas.

Maybe they are wrong because they also denied that matsumoku build hondo’s, and now we now better.

It has a unusual look but i like unusual stuff so for me it’s a thing of beauty.
