how it started

It started some years ago having friends who already played guitar i got bitten by the guitar bug.

Al started with this one,

A cheapo strat copy , named the animal, shitty guitars but i must have been lucky because this one is not that bad. Still got it, almost never play on it, but hey it’s your first so it stays. I have to swallow these words i sold it, haven’t touched it for years so it was time for it to go.

The guitar that follows now is the one that made me start collecting, a fleamarket find, handbuild, mahogany body, set neck, splitable di marzio humbuckers, and all this for 130 dutch guilders with case. I know almost nothing about this guitar , except that it’s possible german and build in 1979. So who ever heard of the guitar please tell me, recently gotten some information it’s most likely a Gherson, a small italian builder who made high quality instruments

This is an 60’s ASTRO when i got it was in terrible condition, broken tuners, one pu missing the other one broken

So i took some drastic measures, i sawed two holes in the body to fit the humbuckers and replaced the tuners. Now it’s one of my favorites, the laminated neck on this one is amazing, and it has a bigsby which i always like.

It’s a german made Astro and not a USA one, the USA astro brand were mainly low quality cheapo’s, not like this one, this is a high quality guitar, with its solid back and top, has even solid sides and a laminated neck
